Wound Re-Growth Zone Analysis

Problem solved:
Automated quantitative analysis of lesion tissue condition and evaluation of the epithelium re-growth process from the wound tissue image.

Solution Summary:
Images of the epithelium ruptures are analyzed with two alternative methods.
Open areas width method is preferred in cases of analyzing images with lacerated wound edges. Current scale units are used to demonstrate analysis results.
Vertical chords method provides objective results in cases of analyzing uniform wound areas with edges that are approximately parallel to the upper and lower bounds of the analyzed image. Analysis results are produced in relative units.

Determined parameters:
Open areas width method:
- Minimal width of the epithelium rupture
- Maximal width of the epithelium rupture
- Median width of the epithelium rupture
- Epithelium rupture width value range
- Variation of the epithelium rupture width
- Width distribution histogram
Vertical chords method:
- Share (or "weight") of the minimal values of the normalized widths of epithelium ruptures in the total distribution
- Share (or "weight") of the maximal values of the normalized widths of epithelium ruptures in the total distribution
- Share (or "weight") of the median (average) values of the normalized widths of epithelium ruptures in the total distribution
- Width range (spread)
- Variation of the epithelium rupture width value
- Vertical chords relative length distribution. This histogram demonstrates the share of some normalized width in total distribution
- Wound zones left-to-right profile. This distribution characterizes the wound profile from left to right

For each analyzed image an MS Word-format report is generated.

This solution is ordered separately. Installed SIMAGIS®  platform is required for the solution to function.

*Color areas on the width map correspond with epithelium ruptures. Color of image pixels characterize the maximal diameter of a circle with the center at the given point that can be inscribed within the rupture area. The wider is the epithelium rupture, the closer is the color to red, and vice versa, the closer is the wound, the greener is the color.
